Leopard Geckos,
Eublepharis macularis
A staple in the hobby today, leopard geckos can be found in pet shops across the country. Originating from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran; these burrowing lizards like it hot, around 90 degrees F basking spots, and are excellent beginner reptiles. Through the dedication of captive breeding over the last 20 years, these geckos can be found in several color varieties with names like Tangerine, Sunglow, and Mack Snow. The names alone can keep future keepers excited and on their toes for the next color morph. Pictured is a classic Super Snow breeder. These geckos are kept by beginners and experienced keepers alike due to the wide range and evolution of new color morphs. Who knows…you might produce the next color morph!
Crested Geckos, Rhacodactylus ciliatus
Once thought to be rare, and only seen in museum specimens, these unique geckos were rediscovered in the early 1990's in New Caledonia. A great beginner species, these geckos prefer a temperature between 78-82 degrees F. They thrive in well ventilated, arboreal settings. Due to the work of Allen Repashy; a meal replacement powder has been developed relieving the keeper from having to feed these geckos live crickets. When taking the above information into consideration, you can see that these geckos are ideal pets for anyone who is interested in their first reptile.
Spear-point Leaf-tailed Geckos, Uroplatus ebanaui
With the vast majority of Uroplatus in the U.S. market being wild caught, this is one of our most exciting projects. From the island nation of Madagascar , these arboreal geckos' name tells it all. Using a unique blend of color and body shape, these geckos use camouflage to look like leaves, moss, and bark. Considering the delicate nature of these jewels, they are best kept by experienced hobbyists. We are currently only working with U. ebenaui and hope to expand our collection to other species in the coming year. Due to the limited number of this genus being captive bred, these geckos may not become available to the public until 2011.
